On November 1, 2020 I started following a new blog that I found while I was spending a few minutes checking out fellow NaNoPoBlano participants: No Talent for Certainty. You see on November 1, 2020 I spontaneously decided to join NaNoPoBlano for the first time. So, here we are on day #2 with my day 2 post titled, “Observers.”
The smoke swirls lazily skyward and I am lost in the white wispy particles. I watch the unchecked cigarette, the host of this rising smoke, it is almost just smoldering remains now. A reddish-orange burn circle travels up the narrow cylinder of tobacco rolled thin white paper and leaves a black, grey and white cylinder of ash in its wake.
This isn’t my cigarette. I sat down here with this cigarette to try and jump into a character. I sat down here to try and find inspiration for the birth of a character who is weighed down by the stress of daily life and seeks her own answers in the tendrils of spiraling smoke.
