The Steam from my Coffee

The weather has been fall like here making that hot mug a coffee a welcome pleasure cradled in between my hands. Watching the slow rising steam dance in wispy movements away from the rich brown liquid is mesmerizing. There are so many wonderful moments tied into a cup of coffee.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have decided on what my plan is for blogging in 2021. I had been toying with the idea of creating posts to follow me on my journey through writing a novel and I have decided that is exactly what I am going to do. I hope that it will help me stay focused and on track. So, 2021 here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils will be about, “This year I am writing a novel….”

If we were having coffee I would tell you that a good friend of mine has started a WordPress website for her business: here.

If we were having coffee I would share a picture of latest project. I call it the Lion Chair. It is another relic from my childhood. I will share the finished project in a few weeks. I have to confess that I have slowed down a bit with these projects because my hands were not feeling very happy with their constant rough use. So, I am hoping to get this chair finished and start one more project to take me through the fall. The other pieces of furniture will have to wait until Spring after that.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I went for my arthrogram. An arthrogram is a series of images of a joint after injection of a contrast medium; for me the images were obtained via an MRI. I was a bit terrified about it but it actually wasn’t as bad as I had it built up to be in my mind. The doctor who gave me the needle showed me the x-ray image of the needle buried deep in my hip joint. It was a pretty neat image when I took out of the equation the fact that it was hip in its current position.

If we were having coffee I would ask you about you week and visualize your story in the steam from my coffee mug.

  1. Wow, Shari. The image of a needle deep into my hip is an image I could have gone all day without. I had a deep shot into my shoulder many years back and to this day can feel that thing creeping through my right shoulder area.
I hope whatever is distressing you goes away soon. As a mom, you don’t have time for such pains.

    1. I am sorry, you are right it isn’t a nice image especially if it calls up memories. I am now waiting to see a surgeon, so we shall see…

Hope you have a great week.

      1. And I hope you have a favorable discussion with the surgeon. The guy who did my back changed my life from one of growing misery to one of just growing older. I am thankful each day (when I put on my own shoes specifically) for the technology and skills that my surgeon brought to my situation. I want it to go as well for you.
        Blessings.

  2. What a beautiful chair, such interesting curves and lines. I can’t wait to see the finished project. Glad your test went better than expected. Sometimes the build up is worse than the actual event, especially if it’s something we’re not looking forward to. Have a good week.

  3. Pretty chair. I have a similar one, a rocker, that I have nearly finished. It is only lacking a properly cushioned seat. The image of that needle almost made me faint. I am no fan, but I hope it helps the doctors make you feel better. Love the idea of your year of novel writing. If I can reset my schedule, I might just join you.

    1. I had cushions remade for this chair. I will share a finished product. Will you share an image of your chair? I would love to see it.

      Sorry about the needle image…

It would be fun to have a fellow blogger on the same journey, another great support to push forward.

Hope you have a nice week.

      1. I am working diligently to clear my list of items for this year. So setting up a large, shared goal for 2021 does sound like a lot of fun.

My chair is in storage (part of the clearing the decks project for this year) When I un-bury it, I will get a photo. 😊

  4. Good luck with your future surgery and no worries about the needle image. I work in the medical field so it wasn’t a big deal to me. I can see for others, but you should feel free to share 😍 we all support what one goes through with these crazy days of life. Beautiful work on your chair and other pieces. I’ve been thinking a lot about my blogging and am enjoying it so much! I’ll probably not change much, more horses and horse stories. Have a good week! ❤️
