Weekend Coffee Share

There has been a few mornings lately where up before the rest of my house. There is something to be said for those quiet mornings where I am nestled in the soft glow of a table lamp. The smell of coffee pillows into my face as I take small sips of that hot brew. My concentration drifts between the novel snuggled in my left hand and the darkness outside my window that is silent with the moon’s secrets. These are precious moments of silence before the house begins to stirs. At that first sounds of the day beginning, I smile at the moon and rise my mug so she knows that I will keep her secrets too.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have decided that The Elfstone of Shannara is my favourite book in the series so far; keep in mind I am only on the third book. Anyway, I am really enjoying the characters and the read. Two questions though. First, do any of the books tell the story of Allanon from the time Bremen leaves him till we read about him again as an adult? Second, what order is best to read the series in?

If we were having coffee I would ask if you can recommend any good family movies? We have been have been doing Friday night movie night for a while and I am coming to the end of my movie ideas. We have watched ET, Denise the Menace, Richie Rich, The Tenth Kingdom and a few others.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have a date day planned with the boys for family day. We are going to go shopping with some of their Christmas money to probably get Lego and then we are going to have lunch together at a restaurant. I am not sure who is looking forward to it more, me or them. Haha. Should be fun.

Well, I should run. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Thanks for stopping in for a virtual cup of coffee.

    1. Those are some solid recommendations. I think I might look for Parent Trap first; my boys would probably get a kick out of that. I am going to have to google The Greatest Showman, I don’t know that one. Thanks for those titles!

  2. Hi Shari.
Loved your morning image of darkness, with a great hot drink, a great book and a pending day with the family. Watching my sleepy crew awaken and make their own coffee before dragging themselves off to work, still makes me smile as my work from home allows me the equivalent of their commute time to sit and read and order my thoughts for the day.
Don’t you agree that many of the best things in life crawl out of our children’s bedrooms each morning?

  3. Mine children are still at the age where they bound out of bed like the energizer bunny. I know those mornings will change but for now the energy level some mornings is exhausting to observe! Haha.
