The Wall

Invisible barriers that mark the past are a tall cold reminder till the last. When it finally comes time to say goodbye there will be no tears for any of them to cry. Too much has been said in the time they shared; the three of them so wrongly paired. In a demonstration of false pretense they all stand tall, they are too proud to see that they will fall. In the storm their relationships slowly die and becomes too late for them to mend or tie. Even with the knowledge they fight on waiting for the moment when they too will be gone. Then finally the wall will fall.

Written in 1996 as a descriptive exercise of a family stuck in the cycle of domestic violence.
