Eager Artist

Blue Hands“I want to be an artist,” the excited voice chirps.

I look down at the earnest face smeared with splotched colour: yellow, blue, and red. “These are primary colour,” the voice tells me and I am not sure whether he is indicating the paper or his face.

“I want to be an artist,” he reminds me. His out stretched hands blend with the stack of papers thrust towards me; purple, orange, brown and green are at war on his pale skin. “I want to be an artist,” says the stick figure on the paper before me and my son smiles at me.
